In 2022, Airpelago initiated a collaboration with E.ON, Sweden's largest DSO (Distribution System Operator), which aimed to aggressively reduce its carbon footprint (read more about it here).

E.ON was on the lookout for a green and efficient power line inspection that could be applied at scale. Despite having tested several drone solutions, the multinational energy company struggled to find an environmentally friendly and scalable solution that could replace the traditional helicopter inspection.

Once the collaboration between Airpelago and E.ON began, Airpelago successfully completed three projects with E.ON, covering a total distance of approximately 2,500 km. These inspections were conducted using Airpelago Power, our proprietary software, capable of automating drone flights and in several way support for a more efficient project management. The scalability and effectiveness of the technology during these inspections were evident, leading to the rollout of more inspections projects with drones.

In 2023, Airpelago achieved another significant milestone by successfully inspecting approximately 10,000 km for E.ON, delivering a remarkable carbon emission reduction of 35 tons for the year. With E.ON's commitment to sustainability and Airpelago's cutting-edge automated drone technology, both companies stand at the forefront of efficient, green, and safe power line inspections.
